Welcome to VONO AI. Your privacy matters deeply to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app and services.
What We Collect
1. Audio Data (With Permission Only)
- We only access your microphone when you explicitly allow it.
- Audio is sent to our servers, processed to extract tasks, calendar events, ideas, and recommendations, and deleted immediately after.
- All audio is deleted immediately after processing.
- No raw recordings are stored on our servers or in the cloud.
2. Transcriptions & Extracted Content
- Extracted tasks, calendar events, ideas, and recommendations are saved only on your device (off/local mode) or encrypted on our servers (server mode).
- You control what stays and what gets deleted.
- Audio is sent to our servers for transcription and extraction. Data is encrypted during transmission (TLS) and deleted immediately after processing.
3. Voice Recognition / Biometric Data
VONO AI creates a voice profile (voiceprint) to identify you in conversations. This is biometric data.
- Server mode: Your voiceprint is stored on our servers until you delete your account.
- Off/Local mode: Audio is processed on our servers to create the voiceprint, but the voiceprint is stored only on your device. Our servers do not retain it.
- Purpose: Speaker identification — distinguishing your voice from others in conversations.
- Your voiceprint is never sold or shared with third parties.
- You can delete your voiceprint by deleting your account.
Other people in your conversations. To label who said what, VONO AI also creates voice patterns for the recurring speakers you talk to. This is also biometric data — belonging to those other people.
- These voice patterns are stored the same way as your other data — on your device (off/local mode) or encrypted on our servers (server mode). They are never sold or shared with third parties, and are never used to train AI models.
- They are used only to tell speakers apart within your own conversations, so your tasks, events, and summaries are attributed correctly.
- A speaker whose voice has not been heard for an extended period is automatically removed.
- You can view and delete any identified speaker at any time in the app, and deleting your account removes all speaker data.
- Your responsibility: Because these voice patterns belong to other people, you are responsible for obtaining any consent required by the laws of your location before recording them (see our Terms of Service).
4. Knowledge Graph
VONO AI builds a personal knowledge graph from your conversations to understand relationships between people, topics, and events.
- Used to provide context in AI Chat and improve extraction accuracy.
- Stored per-user and isolated from other users.
- Deleted when your account is deleted.
5. User Memory ("About You")
VONO AI learns facts about you over time to improve extraction quality.
- Facts decay in relevance over time and may be automatically removed.
- You can view and delete these facts in the app settings.
6. Account Information
If you create an account or subscribe:
- We may collect your email address for authentication and subscription management.
- Payment is handled securely through Stripe / Apple / Google. We do not store your credit card information.
Storage Modes — How "Local" Works
VONO AI offers three storage modes. In every mode, your audio is processed on our servers — the mode you choose controls only where the results are saved, not whether processing happens on our servers. "Local" storage does not mean on-device processing.
- Off: Audio is processed on our servers and nothing is saved anywhere afterward.
- Local: Results (transcriptions, tasks, events, ideas, recommendations, speaker data) are processed on our servers and saved only on your device. Our servers do not retain them.
- Server (cloud): Results are stored encrypted on our servers so they sync across your devices, and can be deleted at any time.
In all modes, raw audio is deleted immediately after processing and is never stored. If you enable the optional Daily Diary while using Local mode, we briefly hold conversation-derived summaries on our servers (up to about 36 hours) and the generated diary (up to about 24 hours, deleted once your device confirms it has received it) solely to create and deliver the diary to your device.
Health & Sensitive Information
- Conversations may contain sensitive information such as health data, financial information, or personal beliefs.
- We process all conversation content equally and cannot selectively filter sensitive information.
- Audio is deleted immediately. Extracted items are stored on your device (off/local mode) or encrypted on our servers (server mode).
- We do not specifically collect or categorize health data.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data solely to:
- Process voice input into actionable insights
- Improve app performance (anonymized crash logs or usage stats)
- Manage subscriptions and support services
We do not:
- Share your data with advertisers or third parties
- Use your data to train any AI models
- Sell or rent any personal information
Sub-Processors
To provide our service, we use the following third-party sub-processors. Your data is NOT used to train any AI models.
Server Logs
- Server logs are retained for 30 days and automatically deleted.
- Logs are filtered to remove personal identifiers. Conversation content is not included in production logs.
Data Storage & Deletion
- Your data is stored locally on your device (off/local mode) or encrypted on our servers (server mode).
- We do not store audio on our servers. In off/local mode, extracted content is stored on your device. In server mode, all data (transcriptions, tasks, events, ideas, recommendations, speakers, knowledge graph) is stored encrypted on our servers and can be deleted at any time.
- AI Chat history: when you enable AI Chat in server (cloud) mode, your chat conversation history is stored encrypted on our servers so it syncs across your devices, retained according to your Chat History setting (30 days by default), and removed when you turn AI Chat off, clear it, or delete your account. In off/local mode it is kept only on your device.
- You can delete all app data at any time from within the app.
Access Controls
- Access to stored content is restricted to authorized personnel on a strict need-to-know basis — only to operate, secure, debug, and support the service — and such access is logged.
- Your data is never sold, and is never used to train AI models.
- For the strongest privacy, use off or local mode: your content is then stored only on your device and our servers do not retain it.
Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your data is processed on servers located in the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards for international data transfers:
- European Union: We rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for transfers from the EU.
- Japan: Transfers are covered under APPI adequacy decisions.
- South Korea: We comply with PIPA requirements including encryption and notification obligations.
- Other jurisdictions: We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a fallback mechanism for international transfers.
Your Rights (Data Subject Rights)
You have the right to:
- Access: View your data directly in the app.
- Portability: Download your data from the app.
- Deletion: Delete your account or specific data items at any time.
- Correction: Edit extracted items directly in the app.
- Withdraw microphone permissions at any time.
- Cancel your subscription or delete your account.

Children's Privacy
VONO AI is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the service, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be communicated within the app or via email.
